The Priest River, just across our road and down the hill, is normally peaceful and well-behaved. During spring runoff, though, it can be fast, furious and dangerous. My granddaughter was with me this day, and I would not let her anywhere near the edge.
Just a mile downstream from here, the Priest River flows into the much larger Pend Oreille River, which flows north into Canada to meet up with the headwaters of the mighty Columbia.
